COMMEMORATING 250 YEARS OF
THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
In 2026, the United States will mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and Montana is gearing up to commemorate this significant milestone. The Montana 250th Commission has a clear goal: to foster civic engagement and raise awareness of both United States and Montana history, including the stories of Tribal nations.
This commemoration isn't just about looking back; it's an opportunity for all Montanans to reflect on the importance of 1776, recognize the contributions our state has made to our shared history, and encourage a renewed interest in civics education, particularly among Montana students.
The Montana 250th Commission is committed to organizing, promoting, and coordinating efforts statewide to ensure that this commemoration is meaningful and inclusive for all Montanans.
